Outdoor Warning Sirens

The City of Caldwell operates four outdoor warning sirens located throughout the community. The sirens are designed primarily to alert people who are outdoors that a potentially dangerous situation exists.

If you hear an outdoor warning siren, go indoors and seek additional information from local emergency alerts, weather information, radio, television, or other reliable sources. Do not rely on outdoor warning sirens as your only method of receiving emergency notifications.

Siren Sounds

Weather Warning – Wail
A rising and falling tone used for severe weather warnings.

Hazardous Materials Warning – Steady
A steady tone used for hazardous-material incidents or other emergencies that may require protective action.

Siren Test – Fast Wail
The City tests its outdoor warning sirens on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM. The test lasts approximately 10 seconds.

Watches vs. Warnings

Know the Difference: Watch vs. Warning

Watch: Hazardous weather is possible. Stay alert, monitor weather information, and be prepared to take action.
